    Extendable hedge cutter got DIY.
Excellent cutter for DIY hedge . Cuts through no problem . 40v battery but 2amp. I would prefer3 amp battery. However this made no impact on its cutting ability . I have a corded Bosch and it is a lot easier being able to just pick up and cut . The bush is 3 meters this is longer than the standard Van H at 2.7meters. So I have to normally take steps to go round the other side in the fields we back onto,At its most extended length the extension pole starts to flex when pushing on cutting , but still does the job . Also easy to walk round to the fields and just use at 1/2 length to tidy. So far though I have not had to go round to the field to do that .

    Great trimmer
Great bit of kit, cuts the hedge superbly and easy to use, it can be heavy with the battery attached but the battery life is super, the thickness of hedge you can cut is small due to the gaps in the blade but it serves me perfectly and the height is super!!!!

    Does what it says
Bought to tame a bank of 15 ft high laurel in the garden on the basis that if it lasted one season it would still be cheaper than hiring an extended reach hedge cutter. We’re heading into season 3 now and it’s still going strong. Although it’s a bit rough in general, we found that it held it’s charge really well so was easier to just also use in the unextended form than digging out the Husky and that particular previously prized garden toy was rested in the shed all last summer. The only thing I would warn anyone about is that at full extension it is a bit unwieldy if you’re a small featherweight like me, although I found that to be the case when trialling the premium brands too. It isn’t impossible to use, and I can still achieve nice shaping on the laurel, but I do find myself wishing I liked the gym enough to maybe build some biceps by the time I’ve finished. All in all, this is amazing value for money and I wouldn’t hesitate to replace from the same brand when it eventually needs to be retired.

    Great hedge cutter
Works a treat. Cut through my hedge nice and easily, and other bits around the garden. It’s a little heavy but I didn’t use the brace, so all good. I researched several hedge cutters looking for one that represented good value plus had a good cut diameter. This one appeared to be the best. Really happy with it.

Van Haus cordless extendable hedge trimmer
My apologies to Van Haus saying the equipment did not work. Starting all over again with the assembly, I noticed the Orange screw grip attaching screwed onto the motor and cutting part a bit more firmly. On pressing the on lever, all worked as it should. However, I must agree with others about the weight but as soon as I angle it over the hedge and tree, I have great difficulty in controlling the machine for very long. There no way that I could use the full or ever partial extension. I did manage to trim the Hawthorn and Pyracantha in 5 to 10 second bursts with short rests in between. Having finished the job, of which I was proud, I do not think that I will be able to manage another session this year, let alone next year. I wish I had not bought the extending one and it would be good if with equipment like this they stated the weight when held upright and stated that considerable effort would be required it used at an angle and more still if using the extension. However, I thought that it was well made and the blade protection cover, which was black thickish plastic and up to the job. I as found that the shoulder takes a lot of adjustment before it is comfortable, but I did find when using the equipment at an angle the on lever was awkwardly behind me. If you are younger than me, around 5ft 10″ in height, fairly fit and strong you should be OK with this hedge trimmer.

    Another Impressive VonHaus Product
I bought this along with the smaller VonHaus Cordless Hedge Trimmer 40V. We have a lot of hedges around our house and I used to pay for them to be cut, but every time they visited, the price kept going up and they would just make-up a price, so decided to do it myself.I already owned a VonHaus leaf vac/blower which I loved, so I was already heading for these products. I did several Internet ‘best buy’ searches, and even though these don’t come out on top, they appear consistently in the top 4 of every search, so it was kind of a ‘no brainer’.When fully extended at an impressive 2.72m, the 5kg weight can take a bit of getting used to, but it’s easily manageable. Having a battery which also can fit multiple other tools is great also, and I can easily move it from one tool to the other as needed.All-in-all, this hasn’t been a let-down and I’m very impressed with it.

Battery drained below certain voltage and now wont charge 🙁
Used maybe 6 times over the last 2.5 years to keep the top of a high hedge trimmed. Worked fine enough for that. However, the battery seems to have discharged itself over the winter and on attempting to charge all I get is a blinking red light on the charger (have tried a known working charger from a friend and same issue). Seems the battery voltage has dropped below a certain level and the charger now deems it unsafe to charge rendering the battery essentially dead. Didn’t know this was a thing, and probably should have been charging it every 1 month over winter had I known. Can’t seem to get a battery anywhere in the UK as nowhere has them in stock. That seems to be a theme with trying to source replacement parts for VonHaus products, so on that basis I’d avoid their products.
