more of the same, but that’s good!
Sniper Elite 4 was my favourite game on the PS4. So I was pleased they hadn’t messed about with it too much with the new game. There are some subtle gameplay additions taking some inspiration from Hitman and perhaps Far Cry. But basically it’s Sniper Elite 4 with new levels. But some of the new levels are really great and very detailed. The new invasion mechanic is a good fun addition, I enjoyed invading other peoples games and being invaded myself. Just wish it had the option to invade your friends games. You can turn this off if you want to concentrate on stealth solo play.I enjoy doing a “kill everyone” challenge on each level and so it can take me 3+ hours doing that stealthily on a single level. There are lots of other weapon challenges etc. to complete to earn different medals which is fun to do if that’s your thing. Finding the right spot to kill 3 people with a grenade is very satisfying. Will probably be buying the DLC at somepoint, hope they continue to bring it out.

More of the same with some improvements and some steps backwards
I love the SE series of games and have completed 2,3 and 4 to Platinum trophy level. It’s a tried and trusted successful formula and SE5 delivers more of the same and does not vary much from the other games, although the campaign levels are significantly larger and to a degree, less linear. Graphics are detailed and pleasing.A couple of issues with the character animation – it seems a bit slack after pressing triangle to interact there is an appreciable delay to the action being completed to the extent where I have wondered if my initial button press had registered?! Personally I find it a shame that you can no longer kill enemy soldiers by shooting a grenade on their belts, however blow up a soldier and his tin hat can end up yards away which is quite cool!Axis Invasion is an interesting addition to the game although I suspect people will only try each mode once just to get the achievement.I have not tried multiplayer yet, although I have completed the Campaign on Authentic difficulty – quite a challenge! I played Multiplayer extensively on SE4 but I don’t really feel tempted on this as the movement is a bit to clunky for my liking.Overall I love the game though and for me it has replay value as those killcam shots/explosions are sooooo satisfying.

Brilliant…..
Another winner from the sniper series…it still has moments where it’s buggy and you can get stuck in ridiculous places but that said. Hours and hours of fun trying to better yourself… graphics are nice, game play is sometimes clunky but hopefully all this will smooth out with the updates. It’s already a classic like the ones before. Great game.

More Bugs than I’m a celebrity
Love these games, first one I’ve had on the PS5, and am disappointed with it graphically, would have been better off paying 10/15 quid less and buying the PS4 version. The game has quite a few bugs. First level one of the gun placements was showing g on the map as being in a field which was inaccessible. One of the gun placements on the map situated in a building along the sea front was showing as being in the wrong building.Retrieved the key from marvels body in the attic opened the safe under the bed, and the character got stuck in the bed.Went back to the previous checkpoint, tried again, and the character again got stuck in the bed, dropped a grenade on the bed to blow myself up, same thing happened a third time. The last time I dropped a grenade and healed myself as I was bleeding out, luckily this solved the problem and I was off the bed.Completed every aspect of level one and couldn’t extricate from the level!I have currently restarted the first level again hoping for better luck this time.Very disappointed with this game. 😕

I first discovered Sniper Elite 3 and began playing that. I played and love it and when 4 came out I played that as well. Sniper Elite 5 is just another experience altogether in terms of its graphics and overall experience. I play on a PS5 with a 75″ Sony 4k TV. So it is almost lifelike. I am embarrassed to admit it but I have 979 hours of playtime on this game. I am retired and nearly 70 years old so yes, there are gamers out there that are not youngsters. There is so much about this game I like. Karl has a good sense of humor and drops some good smart cracks along the way. I love each and every DLC that has been released. I love that you can take different paths and roots and I still am discovering places and hidden items after so many hours. What I don’t like is that you have to use your R1 button to bring up a wheel to select items like mines, grenades and health kits etc. If you are jamming along and need to set a mine and run as the enemy is on your heels, it never fails to not select the right thing. I end up lobbing a grenade in lieu of placing a mine and then that explodes and literally tells the enemy where I am at. That happens a lot even after playing it so much. So that is really my only complaint. Otherwise the game is very stable I do not remember on instance of it locking up or having an issue. The DLC’s when released work flawlessly and you are not a beta tester on them has been the case with other games I have spent big money on that are nearly unplayable due to the vast amount of bugs that the creators I guess expect the users to make them aware of, and then send out tons of patches. This game is really well developed and runs flawlessly on my PS5. I you are a WWII era fan as I am, then this is great. My folks were married during the war and my father landed on the beach at Normandy. So revisiting this era via this game is something I like. You can even kill Hitler in the Wolf Mountain DLC. I like trapping him in the main lodge and setting mines everywhere. He ends up on the run and blowing himself up trying to escape. Meanwhile every Nazi in the building is on your heals and you are shooting and setting mines and traps at almost every opportunity. The latest DLC Kraken Awakens is by far the most challenging of the five DLC’s that have been released. Tons of snipers taking aim at you and lots of various tasks and goals to complete in order to blow the giant carrier ship the German’s are building. Winding you way around the huge ship alone takes running this DLC many times to learn your way around. And that is just the ship, the entire DLC takes place in a shipyard that you must learn to navigate. Worth paying the extra $$ to pick this one up if you buy Sniper Elite 5.
