Very decent phone at a competitive price
I had an ageing Samsung S9 which was failing (the screen was detaching from the phone making it hard to register finger presses). Since I don’t do processor intesive tasks on my phone I was looking for a good all round phone for reasonable price. I think this model hits that spot – decent large screen, decent camera, decent memory size, decent battery life, quick recharging and solid feeling build. All this for a fairly modest outlay. In day to day usage if feels great and compared to the S9 (which was a flagship in its day and far more expensive) the A17 looses nothing although it gains a bit of weight and thickness which I don’t even notice now. For this price I’d highly recommend it as a great all round phone. Please note I don’t game on it so can’t comment on the GPU etc.

A Good Value Item
This is a good everyday – largely – no nonsense, inexpensive phone. However there are some issues that seem to make it less user friendly than it could be – especially for older users. My main concern was the small size of keyboard icons – I know there is a facility to increase that but at the maximum I could get it was still undersized (and I have small hands). I have no issue with the home screen icons which can be readily enlarged. I find it less intuitive than my previous (cheaper) Nokia and hopefully usage will overcome this bias on my part. I can only take the manufacturer’s assertion that battery life is good – time will pass judgement on that.I do not think there will any great disappointments for buyers of this model – as long as – like me – the main purpose of the phone is for communication and a ready source of information.Camerashy

Reliable and enjoyable Samsung Galaxy A17 phone.
A good reliable duel sim android phone. From my experience after two weeks it works pretty well in low signal areas and after entering developer options and changing Window, Transition and Animation scale from1× to .5× you will have a phone that operates very fast and smoothly. See YouTube about opening developer options. That adjustment is absolutely necessary for fast smooth operation. Obviously it works great in good signal areas and on WiFi. Love the dark blue look and pleased it has toughened glass. It also has a long lasting battery. Lots of info that this could be one of the best bugget Phones of 2026 even though it was launched here late last year. Simple to operate and set-up. Great customize options available. An alround reliable phone. I would certainly recommend this device wholeheartedly. To open developer options go to settings and scroll all the way down to About phone… select software information and tap on Build number seven times, then go out of About phone and Developer options menu will now appear right at the bottom of the settings menu. Turn on and scroll quite some way down to Window animation scale, Transition animation scale and Animation duration scale and adjust from 1× to .5× … Job done. Don’t forget to select the Hi refresh rate in display options. Your A17 phone will then not be sluggish at all. Enjoy…

Way better than I thought it would be
This phone is better than it thought it would be. My likes are as follows:It was easy to set it up the way I wanted it to be.The screen size is nice and clear. Not too small.At 128 GB the storage for me is ok.I liked the look, I got the blue one, and feel of the phone.I liked the battery. Depending on your usage but mine lasted 2 days. Charged prity quick to.The bad: so the processor is only 4gb. That means you get some lagging when scrolling but mostly noticeable when you’re playing a game and downloading at the same time or scrolling when downloading. The screen freezes momentarily. I learnt that this is not a phone for a serious gamer.The camera is ok at selfies. To be fair I haven’t done much with it and intend in time to add something in my review on that.The finger print sensors hit or miss. You have to get your finger just so to get it to work.Conclusion, with a crisp clear screen, ease of set up, good battery life and reasonable storage this phone for the bloke who just wants a basic Samsung phone got what he paid for in a nice looking phone.For those of you looking for a faster processor to play games and a good camera look elsewhere.
