A Little Overpriced For What It Is…
It may sound appalling, but I was looking for something to placate my nephew while he visited – let’s just say I’m more of a cat person – and I loathe the idea of giving him access to a mobile phone (the only thing I know that will keep him still/quiet for 10 minutes, to let the cat get a break from being chased)… I thought this would be worth a shot. It’s a nice looking console, reminiscent of a nostalgic branded console, so appeals to those of that era. I love the transparent cover too.The console itself suggests perhaps this game is not all ‘above board’… there are a lot of games available to play but quite a few are in languages other than English, and feels like they might not have been legitimately obtained. It’s easy to learn to play with, I’m sure my four year old nephew would pick it up in a few minutes. And of course, there’s lots of games to investigate. The battery lasts fairly long. So far we have done about 2 hours of gaming and is still going strong.I’m not a fan of the volume control, however. The options are: really loud, loud, normal or silent. I wish there was a quiet mode too.For £17.99, I would expect something a little more substantial. Ideally I wouldn’t pay any more than £10 for this product.

A well priced handheld retro console with some fun games
Devices like this can vary wildly in quality so I was unsure how good this would be. In the event it is actually quite good. As other people have said, it is basically a handheld Sega Megadrive but that certainly isn’t a problem. I love retro tech so a Megadrive I can put in a pocket is great. There are 100 games included and they cover a variety of styles. Lots of the more popular games are on there and whatever your preferences you should be able to find something you enjoy. The only problem with the games is that they are not all in English. It looks like someone downloaded a load of Roms from the web and didn’t really care which versions they used. If that is the case I would question just how legal this device is.Construction is good, especially considering the price point. Buttons all work and are responsive, the screen is bright and volume is quite loud.Charging is done using the supplied USB cable though you do need to supply your own charger. Battery life is decent and charging times are reasonable. There is also an AV cable included for connecting to a TV. I tried it with an old CRT television and the results weren’t bad though the main strength of this device is in its portability.Overall this is a nice device that will while away a bit of time. I don’t find the games have the same appeal that they had in the nineties but I can still find something to pass the occasional half hour.

Brings me back to my childhood and so much fun!
This purple retro handheld game console is a fun and simple device that really reminds me of my childhood. The 100 pre-loaded 16-bit games provide a nice variety of classic-style entertainment that is easy to pick up and play whenever you have a few minutes. The design is compact and travel-friendly, featuring a 2.8″ color screen that is clear enough for basic pixel graphics. The sizing is exactly as expected for a handheld, fitting comfortably in the hand while remaining high quality and sturdy for a plastic console. Having a rechargeable battery is a practical touch that saves you from constantly buying disposables. Highly recommended!

Its a Megadrive emulator packed with pirated ROMs, most are in Russian or Japanese.
There is (or ‘was’ at the time of review) no info on what kind of games came loaded onto this device, so allow me to give you a quick breakdown. This device is essentially a Sega Megadrive (Genesis to our overseas cousins) emulator, packaged in a Gameboy-esque handheld shell. It comes with 100 pre-installed Megadrive games. The selection of games is surprisingly good with many Megadrive classics, such as Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, Golden Axe to name a few (I have not the time nor patience to list every title). 30 years ago this handheld would have blown my tiny 12 year old mind. Now for the catch, and it is a big one. This device is clearly filled with pirated ROMs, I would be amazed if this was licenced product, considering how secretive the producer is over the preloaded catalogue not to mention several titles appear to be the ‘cracked versions’. Over half of the games are in either Russian or Japanese, also a number of titles go by their Japanese title, so Streets of Rage is called Bare Knuckle for example. It feels like it was just filled with the first 100 ROMs they found, with no attention paid to which localization (English, Japanese or Russian) they were adding. Now for the hardware itself, the handheld feels nice, the buttons are a bit clicky (loud), but responsive. The volume setting is limited, it is a single toggle button, which alternates between off, low, medium and loud. The handheld is charged via usb, and also comes with an old school A.V cable to hook it up to your T.V, however unless you have an old analog TV gather dust somewhere then most people will have no way to utilize it.Overall this is a hard one to grade, on the one hand you get a pretty good catalogue of 100 Megadrive games for under £20, on the other hand, the vast majority are in Russian or Japanese, and I would bet my house these games have not been legally licenced. If you are willing to overlook these issues then it is a neat little gadget, especially if you were a child of the 80s and 90s like me, and grew up playing these games
