Retro handheld games console
What an awesome retro handheld console!Upgraded 2025 model and it shows. I’ve got an older one from a few years ago and this is loads better. Smooth game play/ better battery life / 720p screen and loads more games on it.Sound is very good and even after hours it has battery left to keep going. Easy to use and hold not too heavy and buttons feel like they can take a few mashs when playing Mortal Kombat.Comes with everything you need and case and memory card so could even add to it (there is like a 2000 games or something already)Some games do slow down a little when playing the start up jazz (as expected) and some require you to change settings for better game play but that’s all part of it and once set up it’s amazing.Literally got a PS2/N64 now collecting dust as I sit on sofa playing this!Cheaper models clearly available (I think that’s what I got last time years ago) but I suspect you pay for what you get sometimes on this.100% love. Will be used on holidays for downtime too.

Good Retro Gaming Handheld
The R36Max has been a solid handheld for retro gaming. The 4.0-inch IPS screen is clear and colourful, and gameplay has been smooth across the games I’ve tried, including some 3D titles.It comes with a large selection of pre-installed games and supports many different emulators, offering plenty of variety. The R36T Retro TV handheld games console is an absolute gem for anyone who loves classic gaming or wants to explore the golden age of consoles. With 18,000 games from iconic companies like PlayStation, Nintendo, Amstrad, Atari, and more, it’s like carrying an entire childhood in your pocket. Will I ever play them all? Not a chance—but I’ve already jumped into the ones I loved as a kid, and the nostalgia is real. As a very middle-aged man, I was surprised to see my daughter enjoying the retro games too, which makes this console feel like a perfect fit for all ages. It’s ideal for travel—great on car rides, trains, coaches, or planes—and it’s nicely built with a protective case and USB charging. The menu navigation took a little getting used to, but once I learned the buttons, it was simple enough. At its price, I think it’s excellent value for money and would make a fantastic Christmas or birthday gift for anyone who appreciates the magic of classic gaming (or just a gift to yourself!)

Great, just learn how to reset it
We decided to avoided the costly Nintendo and went with this instead for about eur60. It worked a treat.. bit fiddly to use at the beginning and the instructions are not great. It comes with a lovely storage case. One known issue with these is that you will need to reset it a lot. It’s simple enough to do, just hold down a few buttons and wait until reset, but it’s just a bit annoying until you figure that out. Overall, great purchase and it saved us a pack of money by not buying the alternative expensive option.Like all of these things.. it’s less than 3 months later and no one even looks at it now.

So many great games and surprisingly powerful — unbelievable value for money
Overall, as an emulation handheld, the R36T is a huge success and gives you so much value for your money. For £50/$60 you can get access to a handheld that plays SNES, Game Boy, and even N64 and Dreamcast games. This handheld is my first foray into the cheap handheld market and I’m very impressed. While the big companies won’t be happy with the existence of devices like this, the handheld will make the classics accessible to a wider range of people. I can imagine whole families passing this device around to play old Streets of Rage, Pokemon, or Crash Bandicoot games from their childhood. This handheld has problems in terms of controls, such as lacking a second analogue stick for first person shooters. However, even though the experience is slightly compromised in terms of the control you have over gameplay it is more than worth it for the chance to experience some of these games.

I told myself I bought this handheld emulator “for research”… but really, I just wanted to relive my SNES and N64 glory days. The build quality is fantastic with solid controls, bright screen, and zero lag on classics. It’s wild being able to jump from all the different games and consoles in seconds. The buttons feel great, the screen pops, and everything just works well. My kid called it “retro,” but quickly changed her tune when we started playing some of the party games and arcade games together. Incredibly fun.

I bought the R36MAX mainly for nostalgia, but I ended up being genuinely impressed with how well it performs. It boots up quickly, menus are smooth, and it runs all the classic 2D games flawlessly. Even some lighter 3D titles play surprisingly well with no noticeable lag.The screen is one of the highlights. The 4-inch IPS display is bright, sharp, and looks great from any angle. Colors really pop, and the 720×720 resolution makes old-school games look better than I expected. Say this on Tik Tok but purchased it on Amazon. A lot of old school games it takes a bit to figure the joystick and buttons. It takes a bit of time to load them but once load it hours of fun. Love the case and screen protector provided.
