GPS
The unit appears not to have a stand alone GPS in operationThere is a reliance on the cellular network on Wi-Fi to determine allocation

Solid and reliable
Good size screen that is clear and easy to see. Quite heavy, but also very rugged so ideal for me – don’t need to worry about it being knocked.Battery life is reasonable.Only minor issue is the sound is a bit weak but I have an excellent Bluetooth speaker that resolves the issue.

Touchy
I wanted to like this tablet.Initial set-up was pretty pain-free; the screen, although not completely perfect, did work well enough for simple tasks. It’s a very heavy tablet, however, which makes it hard to see how it would be more useful than a laptop unless doing some work in a factory, for example. The screen is only HD, I would have hoped for an FHD panel at least at this price point. Even with very basic use, I found it quite sluggish, which is a shame – I was hoping to be able to play some casual Windows games on the go, but it’s hard to say what exactly *would* run on this – perhaps Championship Manager 99.It’s possible that this tablet could get some good use in the right environment. Unfortunately for me, the touch screen stopped working, and I’ve not managed to get it working again despite trying multiple resets/clean installs.** UPDATE – 23/10/2025 **Following my review, the manufacturer reached out to me to try and resolve the issue I had with the touch screen not working. A few emails back and forward, and they sent the drivers out to me to reload – a simple task, as they included an installation batch file to do the work for me. Five minutes later, and my touchscreen now works perfectly.I’ve updated my star rating, as the tablet does now work as it should and the customer service was fantastic – it’s still somewhat slow for home use, but would be more than suitable for the intended use in a factory, for example.

You won’t get better value for money.
About 40% of a tablets surface area is taken up by the screen and nowhere, in the listing or on their website, do Heigaolapc mention what material the screen is made from. There are manufacturers on Amazon who advertise their cheaper rugged tablets as having Corning Gorilla Glass screens. This one might-who can tell? Heigaolapc aren’t saying.I have an iPad 6th generation and the 6 year old processor in that is as powerful as the one in this Heigaolapc tablet, which is a fraction of the power of the latest iPad. But what does it matter? IPads and other more powerful devices have to contend with playing videos and gaming. This tablet needs to be able to cope with the rigours of business/industrial software for which it has the necessary power to deal with. If you want an alternative with much the same spec then the Munbyn IRT09 is a contender, but it’s the better part of £1000.00 more expensive. And there’s no mention as to whether it has a rugged screen. If you want a rugged tablet with a much more powerful processor, the i7-1355u, then you’re looking at the Getac K120 which will set you back £3200.00. And even at that price there is no mention of the strength of the screen. So yes, this Heigaolapc tablet might only have the processing power of an iPad 6th generation, but for the price one can’t expect more. And there’s the strength of its screen mystery, but that also goes for machines at many times the price of this device. The operating system, Windows 11 Pro, is tried and tested and relatively easy to set up. Patience is needed to fight your way past Microsoft’s attempts to tie you into their products for life, but with perseverance you’ll make it!There are enough connectability options to suit any industrial/commercial uses. The memory is soldered on 8GB LPDDR4 2133 MHz and the storage soldered on 128GB eMMC which can be expanded with an optional SD card. I never can understand soldered on storage and memory, as it restricts upgrades. All the ports are protected with 4 rubber (or rubber like) grommets that are very effective, but can be a bit fiddly to ensure they’re properly in place. The back of the case is well secured with 20 screws, I didn’t remove them all to satisfy my curiosity, but I was very tempted! I did wonder whether there was a separate tablet within the case or whether case and tablet were as one. Either way the rigid shell with reinforced bumper corners surrounding the workings of this tablet is very thick and strong and offers excellent protection. The big question is, would I buy this tablet? It is very good in a lot of areas, but there’s a couple where it doesn’t fair so well. The CPU and the screen. But do they really not fair that well? If this was a £3000.00 tablet then yes, I’d be justified in saying that, but it’s not £3000.00-it’s £529.99. And at that price point it would be impossible to include more than is already there. For £529.99 you’ll have to go a long way to find better value in a rugged tablet.
