Amazing game, incredible story and better than the original game in every way!!!
Just finished playing this game (main story) today (ps5). The story and gameplay are much more better than the original game. Taken me over 125 hours to complete and thats with exploring the most of the map.Ignore the negative reviews because not everybody who has reviewed this game has played the whole game through, rather a few hours. I think its fair to say you should review the game once you have played it through properly. The graphics are amazing and you can tell developers have put in alot of time and work and I dont regret spending the money to play this game. The game expands upon first game in every way. The story is amazing and the side quests are more interesting unlike some games (assassins creed). The map is massive and there is much to explore in the wild west. There are a range of weapons you can use but you need to level up by doing main and side quests as well as upgrading your weapons. You will need to use different weapons for different enemies depending on there weaknesses. There is also a skill tree where you can upgrade your skills to your own liking. There are some parts of the game liike the tailneck in the middle of nowhere where you cannot reach it at the start or middle of the game. You will have to complete more main quests in order explore certain areas of the game (but your not told that). The ocean is an amazing place. Best Ive seen in a game. The music is incredible to. I love the soundtrack. My favourite is track of the game is: The World on her shoulders.I don’t really have any bad points to say about the game apart from the climbing can be abit frustarating at times but nothing to bad.I cannot wait for the next and final game!!!Will be amazing to see what the developers come up with next. Although will be years away, I can’t wait to play it.If your thinking about buying this game, dont hesitate buy it worth the money if you like story games.

    Visually stunning and incredibly engaging
So far I am finding this game to be incredible, I’m about 10 hours in and can already tell that I will sink well over 100 hours into this game, maybe nearer to 150, and that’ll likely be on just1 play-through. It looks incredible, the scenery is captivating, colours are powerful and vibrant, the atmosphere is so alive and the environment just really pulls you into a beautiful rendition of a post-apocalyptic, over-grown world. The story leads on immediately from Zero Dawn in a great way, and I am looking forward to seeing what the story will uncover next! There looks to be an abundance of side-quests and other missions/tasks, as well as customisations and options for multiple styles of play!Definitely worth a pickup for any RPG fan, but especially for fans of the first game! There’s no point reviewing Amazon’s delivery service, the high winds in the South of the UK meant that all shipments for 18th Feb were delayed, so I did received this game on the 19th, despite the tracking not working. For obvious reasons, I will forgive Amazon completely for this as they have no control over the weather, and I am very grateful I managed to receive the game on the following day despite there still being fairly high winds all weekend.

The graphics in this game are incredible.
The graphics in this game are incredible – this is the type of game that the PS5 was made to play. Great story, great controls. Must have.

Never really hits the heights of what Zero Dawn did.
Zero Dawn was quite simply a 10/10 game. Hugely ambitious and became the best game on PS4 when it was released. Forbidden West tries to hit those highs, expanding on the original that was such a massive hit. But it never quite happened.I love the Horizon world, its back story and scope for the future, but whenever I play I just can’t shake the feeling that the developers got a little fed up of this game. I mean, there are some quite glaringly obvious short cuts which were taken in the game that it is hard to deny. Some character skins in the game are reused for different characters, with very minor changes, and even using the same voices. Then the dialogue for some characters just seem, lazily done. Like running out of things to say but they must say something. And some quests appear outright broken if try to complete them, until you find out later that the reason the quest appears broken is because you have to do it in a specific manner the game has set out.Don’t get me wrong, there is a lot to love about this game. The Vistas are stunning, the music is simply awesome and the story, while a little confusing to track, does offer some new and tantalising storylines which I assume will be used in the future. Again, there is a lot to like here.Does this game get top marks? Not for me. It isn’t quite up there with Zero Dawn but it does make for an enjoyable continuation of the world and will be enjoyed by anyone who loved the first game and subsequent add on.

Got to get the big problem out of the way first, which remove a star from my rating. This turned out to be the European region version of the game disc. It installed and worked fine on my North American PS5 until I got most of the way through the game and downloaded the Burning Shores DLC expansion. Took me a while to figure out why it wasn’t working but the region difference was the answer. There is no simple way to download the European version of the expansion if you live in N. America, and the N. American DLC does not work at all with other versions of the base game. So I’ve paid for a DLC I can’t use thanks to this mix-up. I’m waiting for the N. American version to go on major sale but I don’t think my saved games will work. Very frustrating.Looks like there is some grey-market stuff going on here because you shouldn’t really be able to buy Euro coded games in N. America. Watch out!The game was ok. Gameplay was better than the original and more refined, but there are still clearly a few “right ways” to fight most robot monsters and Frost is still OP in almost any situation. The graphics are very good and the world is beautiful, with a bit more going on in it than the first game. The story is a mixed bag, with some good moments, some eye-rolling wokeness, and also some stupid story elements especially toward the end which seems rushed. Aloy remains a cipher without much character growth or motivation other than “saving the world is my job which I do unquestioningly and because I am somehow better at it than everyone else on the planet, duh”. The Tenakth are not well-written as a culture: their dress, customs and settlements make no sense whatsoever, and the three tribes are indistinguishable from one another apart from colour scheme. The game could have done some interesting things with primitive groups who worship variously misinterpreted versions of US 20th and 21st century military culture but instead we got generic Native-style warriors. The original game’s story was way better and so were its factions. I’d say the game is still worth playing, though it’s frustrating because it could have been much better with different writing.

I would. I loved the first HZD game, and Forbidden West lives up to the first. The mechanics gave me the same vibes as the first one did, and reminded me of Shadow of the Colossus. Which is also one of my favorite playstation titles. The difficulty of this game is no joke, and I appreciated how challenging it was. I felt like I earned, that said one of the major critiques of the game I have was how big the download was. Its massive, ~90 gb once installed on your system. So if you play games like destiny or COD, youre going to have to make room for it. It is understandable tho because there arent many loading screens. mostly when you are respawning. I found that to be impressive. The storyline is fast paced, and you’re greeted with platforming mechanic almost imediately. That is no surprise given that it is an open world game. The story picks up 6 months after the end of HZD and the story ties well into that as well. I will say that some of the side quests, why they do tie into the story, were a bit cheesy. like they didnt get the same attention as the main story. The mechanics of the game were a bit tough for me at first. I mostly play FPS games and switching back to 3rd person was an adjustment. Until i got used to 3rd person i made many mistakes. They also didnt really explain how to modify weapons or use the skill tree very well. So I would give the mechanics 3.5 out of 5.The combat and graphics however! 5/5 stars. Nothing in this game came easy. and the graphics were near perfect for a game made for ps4 and played on the ps5. I loved how difficult the game was because I am a damage dealer, and a good one at that, I was never a tank, so i had to learn how to stay alive while playing bosses who are OP. There is one thing to note about the graphics. the running animation for aloy was funny. it felt out of place, and it made me laugh a few times.Performace wise, the game ran almost flawlessly. the load times were super quick for such a large game. I did run into a few bugs tho. There were to memorable instances in boss fights were i got stuck on a ledge or pushed out of bounds that required a checkpoint restart. While that was annoying, the restart refreshed the game and cleared the error.ConclusionI felt totally immerese the whole time, and the side quests that werent cheesy, did add to the main story. Would i replay the game once I fully complete the game? Prolly not, i am currently about 45% of the way through the game and have been playing the game for about 30 or so hours. One thing that felt a little disapointing was the Tallnecks. Just like the first game, they were fun and a wonderful puzzle to figure out, at the time of completeing the campaign, I had finished 3 of the 6 in the game and onces i was nearing the end i received a mount that allowed me to cheese 2 of the final 3. that was disappointing to me.all in all this game is an incredible game that is beautiful, challenging and the story really is something that is entertaining. It is definately not perfect, but if you liked the first game, this will be well worth your time.

Horizon Forbidden West (PS5)I purchased this game as a gift for my teenager, and the enjoyment level has been through the roof! As a parent, the best review I can give is simply based on how much it has been played.Incredible Replay Value: I have never seen my kid come back to a single player game so often. He has replayed it several times since getting it, which speaks volumes about the depth, story, and engaging open world. It’s clearly not a game that gets finished and tossed aside.Highly Engaging: The fact that he keeps diving back into this world proves that the developers nailed the mechanics and narrative. It clearly hooks the player and keeps them interested long after the main story is over.Perfect Gift Idea: If you have a teen who owns a PS5 and enjoys expansive, visually stunning action-adventure games, this is a fantastic gift choice. It’s hours upon hours of high-quality entertainment.Overall Verdict:Based purely on the constant and repeated playtime this game has received, I give it five stars without hesitation. It’s a hugely successful purchase and an excellent addition any teens PS5 library.

I totally enjoyed playing this game, +120 hours of fun. Then, I wanted to start the DLC that I bought online and… did not work because this version is an European version, even if I bought it on Amazon.ca.The seller should have mentioned it and now of course it is too late for any return.
