10/10 Security Solar Powered Camera with clear picture quality and excellent Battery life!
I was looking for a CCTV/Outdoor Home Security Camera solution for some time but I didn’t want any hard wiring done as a full setup was very expensive. I finally saw a short Review for this “Baseus S1 Lite Solocam Camera” in a local newspaper and decided to buy it. It has performed well beyond my expectations and has some excellent features that make it very good value for money (we purchased two in a deal for £45).BUILD QUALITY: Very expensive and solid build quality and feel, very weighted Camera with a strong and sturdy wall mount. The solar panel is large and clean and performs excellent. The app will show active solar charging through the day and the current Battery life percentage.PERFORMANCE: The Camera’s picture quality is very sharp in the daytime, better than our Ring Doorbell Camera’s 1080p full resolution image. The Camera has an excellent and simple Motion Sensor setting that can be made less sensitive or more depending on your needs. It also can changed the recording length of videos from a few seconds to 30 seconds. The night vision picture mode and quality is also excellent. It easily rivals the clear night footage of our Ring Video Doorbell Camera and is very clear whenever we check the Camera live.BATTERY LIFE: The Battery life is excellent if the wall you have is sun facing and will get a good amount of sunlight during the day (our Garden one has lasted well over 6-8 weeks on the same charge. Solar charging keeps topping it up to near 100% battery life). Our front door one however had to be charged after 3-4 weeks as the Battery was getting much lower due to many motions on the front door (Motions can be changed to humans only). We get less sunlight on the front of the house so this also heavily affected the Battery Life. I have no issues with this as charging it once every 1 or 2 months is very reasonable as then Solar Charging helps to extend the battery life further. We use a very fast 100W/120W USB C Charger and it charges the Camera to full in around 3 hours. USB C charging is excellent and the best modern charging port type for the Camera.THE CAMERA APP:Make sure you install the right one from the QR code in the Box. If you search “Baseus” on Google Playstore, there is another one which was the wrong app (looks the same, same icon) and it couldn’t find the Camera. One the camera is connected and installed, you can installed and setup further Cameras easily in the App. You can name them and access the live picture feed easily and quickly. The picture quality in the App is excellent, sharp and clear. Motion alerts can be turned on or off as required. The Camera connection is strong and stable and has never dropped or randomly “disconnected”. Overall, the App is very modern, fast and feels fluid – much better than the slower and hjalf broken cheap Chinese apps with the cheaper Cameras (anything below £25).Overall, I am so impressed that we have a completely wireless Outdoor Solar Powered Camera option such as this Baseus S1 Lite Solocam and this has really improved our home security and is a must have for any modern home, especially for people who want to avoid paying the expensive setup and maintenance costs of hardwired full CCTV systems. Excellent value for money for a premium product, so much that we purchased two. I hope this review helps someone out there who is looking for a high quality security camera without the wires and hassle!

Beseus solar security camera
First the good news. This is great security camera, good image quality, good wifi connectivity, easy setup and the app is good. The solar panel keeps it charged, I find it loses about 2 to 3% overnight but regains that during the day, in an open aspect. I don’t live in as sunny place by the way. The camera does not require a subscription if you install a micro sd card, and you can download the video to your device. Which is a great feature. Now the bad news. The price has shot up from under £50 to nearly £80 in a few weeks! Now the are similar cameras that are significantly cheaper. That’s a shame as I would buy another,but not at that price.

Terrible software quality in the App.
I first encountered this product in an online technical magazine review. Normally I trust this publication, but they probably didn’t hit the problem that I did. I was attracted by the price, the solar power and the lack of a requirement for a subscription.However, I have no idea how well this product works, because I was totally unable to log in to the App. First, the App was too picky about the length of the password (mine was too long!). Then, I was required to agree to the Ts&Cs and the Privacy Notice, (which were both many, many screenfulls of text). Then I couldn’t click on the ‘Agree’ buttons until I had stabbed them many times. Finally, to add insult to injury, the App would not accept my newly created credentials when I tried to log in, even though they were OK at registration and they had been saved in my password manager.I’ve returned the product as faulty, even though the hardware may well be fine.

Good camera, maybe needs some troubleshooting
Edit: support got back to me and their resolution did indeed resolve the issue. It’s early days but I will update if it stops holding charge again. Somehow resetting the device and repairing the device stopped it draining rapidly. Other than this issue I can’t really fault the camera and app, it’s slow ish at times but does what you’d expect it to do well. Picture is really good quality, and until this recent issue it had never had an issue with battery, charging from solar power and kept going over winter never dipping below 50%.Started off great, 7 months later the device can’t hold a charge and is useless. Can’t seem to contact seller for a resolution. 7 months use for a security camera is definitely not value for money.

Thank you for your prompt action and support.Initial reviewHad 2 of these for a few months now.Summer time they are okay as the solar panel works and keeps the battery topped up and the video quality is decent but this is where the good parts stop.For the bad bits:- app is painfully slow to load, so much so that I cannot view the recording.- with winter days being so short and cloudy, there is hardly any charge going in the battery.- detection is hit and miss on humans, despite having set at the highest sensitivity.At a reduced price, might just about worth the price if the app speed is improved significantly.If you need a dependable system, just buy wired and save yourself the trouble.

Brilliant little camera. Just installed one. No wiring, wifi connection worked straight off.The solar charging works even with dull daylight, which is crucial since there is no wiring going to it.The people detection works great. Even in “almost darkness” (you do need some light around; even a lamp 30m away will do).The only issue I found was setting up the notification tone, because I wanted to change it from the default one, and (this is android 14) the notification option names (see pic) do not relate to anything obvious or camera related, so I had to set up each of them.

Funciona perfectamente conectada al wifi de la casa, las imagenes son en color muy nitidas e incluso de noche se ve perfectamente.La camara tiene un angulo de visión tanto horizontal como vertical bastante amplia, esta fija, no se puede mover a control remoto, pero cumple perfectamente su función de vigilancia. Tiene la posibilidad de poder hablar a traves de ella y escuchar los sonidos ambientales. Permite instalar una tarjeta mini SD y poder grabar.La relación precio calidad es excelente y la aplicación desde el movil es facil y rapida. Estoy muy satisfecho.
